New Member xj8 enthusiast
Hi, I am a recent member who has already been helped several times by previous posts and my new posts. I find Jaguar Forums to be a valuable resource for technical information to keep my 98 and 99 xj8's running well.
I live in Brockton Ma. and am currently recovering from a bout with cancer. My doctors tell me I can expect to make a full recovery.
I had purchased a 98 xj8 with 110k which I recovered from a dealer who had it in the back of his lot. I was searching for a volvo wagon for my wife and this jag called to me. i couldn't get it off my mind. I went back and started it up and smoke blew from the bottom and the check engine light was on and flashing messages( I forget which one). I found from researching threads on Jag forum that it was a simple fix. I purchased the vehicle for cheap (he was happy to get it off his lot and after changing the hoses it has run like atop ever since. Before I was hospitalized for my stem cell transplant I purchased a 99 xj8l VDP with 71k for a song. I replaced the rear wheel bearing and the car has been expense free. I was able yesterday to operate for the first time (due to restrictions from my cancer) and i can say the auto drove beautifully. I can see when I get back to work I will have a tough time getting driving time from my wife!
Thanks again for this meetingplace and looking forward to many years of gaining and giving knowledge!

Welcome to the forum mx5j8,
Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. Especially pleased to hear we've 'helped you to see the light'.
I know you've found your way to the X308 tech section so no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US North East Region section by following this link North East US - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forum.

That sounds positive. Sounds like my mechanic talking about my X308!
Welcome from Australia and hoping you get to enjoy driving your Jag (s) for many years.
