New owner of a 'new to me' 2011 XF-R in Texas
Hello all! I took delivery of a sublime 2011 XF-R (UBM) last night with 26k miles. I've always had a soft-spot for English cars, in spite of owning a Land Rover previously in my native Canada. I had tested Audi S4's, Cadillac CTS-V's, and BMW M3's, but by far my favourite was the XF-R.
The S4 was nice (supercharged V6) and the AWD made launches effortless, but the absolutely numb steering (think Xbox steering wheel without force feedback) was a deal-killer for me. The somewhat anonymous styling didn't really win me over either. The after-market performance parts available for the platform was impressive, but... that steering. Horrible.
The CTS-V was fantastic; that supercharged V8 was spectacular, primal. Loved the fact it had a manual gearbox. From a purely statistical standpoint the CTS-V out-performed the XF-R in almost all areas but here in Texas CTS's are common... so are CTS-V's. Also, the CTS-V didn't have that the intangibles of the Jaguar, especially that wonderful leather smell.
The BMW M3 was beautiful, silken and swift... however everyone I've known who's had an M3 is a douchebag. If that's how I view M3 owners, it's likely that's how most people view M3 owners. I don't want to be viewed as a typical M3 owner.
The XF-R I bought was one of only 8 for sale in the entire US. XF's in general aren't very common, and I've honestly never seen an XF-R before buying this one. I love that rarity. My son and I test drove it (he's 11) and we giggled like idiots the entire time. Everything about it just spoke to me.
I'm coming out of a modified 2010 Mazdaspeed3 that I'd owned for 4 years and began modifying it almost immediately. In the end it had Enkei RFP1's, coilovers, intake, big turbo, FMIC, downpipe, exhaust, and a custom tune on e-85. It was ridiculously fast. I was beating 911's, M3's with Dinan chips, and corvettes. But after 4 years, I was ready for something new, something more 'mature' but fast. My criteria for my new car was it needed to be fast. The XF-R is fast. I'm going to be honest, it's not as fast as my MS3 was, but then again, the XF-R is still stock

Welcome to the forum aliensporez,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. Thanks for the interesting Intro.
I can see you have found your way to the X250 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the XF-R and enjoy the forums.
Graham
