I picked up a 2002 X type for my kid as his first car. I hope this experiment works out well

Welcome to the forum Kravchaky,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. The experiment should work out just fine - the X-Type can't be any more difficult than a teenager!

Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US North East Region section by following this link North East US - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

I hope to do the work on it with my kid so he can learn about mechanical things and how to be handy, and not just the old x-box computer games crap all the time. Figure this would spark his interest since he loved the Jaguar F-1 team and is still a Mark Webber fan. He would always say he was my Mini Racing Rival (Ferrari here) and we had a great time with it. So now he gets the car to go with his Jaguar F-1 racing clothes

Thanks for the quick links to the forums and I was wondering is there a Jag Club? Would love to have him start to go to shows for more fun

I have a question about the door panels, seems they break at the top near the opening from slamming the doors... Are there any fixes around for this problem?

Previous owner must have done the slamming, but the drivers side is broke now so I would like a fix...
