Welcome to the forum trcns,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.

This particular DTC turns up here fairly regularly. The possible causes are:

1. HO2S heater failure
2. HO2S sensing circuit short circuit to ground or high voltage
3. HO2S sensing circuit open circuit
4. ECM failure

Most times it turns out to be the sensor on the way out.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.

Thanks, I will appriciate a video on changing sensor.

Thanks all for welcoming me.

I bought two Oxygen upstream sensors yesterday. And although I have an account with AllData for my car, if someone has instructions/video on how to change these sensors I will really appreciate it.

It's kind of a pain if you don't have a lift and a helper but if you go for it take lots of pics!!!

+1

I've always ended up dropping the Cats off the manifolds because my hands just won't fit in the gap!

This weekend I replaced two O2 sensors from passenger side (Upper and Lower Sensor)of the car and I reset-ed the computer. But the error still is their. Was that bank One or Bank two?

daxter1987 10-09-2013 12:19 PM

Lolz, u did bank a

no offense on the lolz

look at the bright side, just do the other bank and no more oxygen sensor problems for u :D

daxter1987 10-09-2013 02:20 PM

well i decided to make a guide since this codes bug almost everyone:

jaghelp.com: P1646 and P1647 on your XJ

That way u have part numbers and a clear understanding of what is bank a and bank b. Best of luck!

It was easy to change Bank A sensors.

I don't know how to reach to Bank B sensors. I looked from under the car, feels like impossible to reach them. If some body changed O2's for bank B, upper and lower, please advise the best approach? Pictures will be great.
