Returning to Jaguars
My name is Granville and I've been an ardent Jaguar enthusiast ever since I was about 15 years old (I'm 71 now). I owned and loved an XK-150FHC for seven years. Bought it just before my daughter was born and sold it shortly after my son was born. Both had their first car ride in it, coming home from the hospital. I still miss that car very much and sold it only out of perceived financial necessity.
My daughter drives a 2006 XJ8 VdP so the addiction is catchy. I drive a Land Rover LR3 (Discovery 3) that at least has a Jag engine. My son drives a Disco 2. I want to add a Jaguar to my stable and am looking for a nicely kept 2003-2006 XK8 coupe, with a strong preference for BRG/tan. I have been looking for quite some time, lately seriously, and wonder if I'll ever find a suitable one. I found a 2-owner, low-miles, 2005 XKR coupe that was almost perfect except that it was Jaguar Racing Green (metallic) and that color just doesn't work for me, BRG gone wrong.
I read on this forum that coupes were only about a third of the production but my observation of the used car market for the XK8 is that convertibles are about 10 or more to every coupe. I think coupes must be even scarcer here in California, even in the north. I'm in Mendocino County wine country and ANY XK8 would be a one-off here.
