Welcome to the forum casper, I have added you to the NZ Roll Call thread.
Try Looking up Geoff (or Jeff) DeMay(spelling may be wrong), probably almost retired by now but ran a top independant Jag workshop down on Fishrman's Wharf ( where Beacon Services were). Dive Cresent, right below the netball courts on Cliff Rd.

East coast of NZ about two hours south of Auckland. My hometown. 29 years ago it was a sleepy beach side town. Went back for the first time last year and it is a sleepy beach side retirement city now.

Welcome.
Since yours is a 1983 HE, the misfire is more than likely one of the Ignition Coils is dead or the front coil, out the front of the radiator on the LH side, is unplugged.
The 2 wires are likely to be from the idle up solenoid in the RH air box backing plate. Probably been removed.
The XJS playpen will have LOTS of suggestions.
Dont forget to add your car details to your Sig via the CP tab at the top of the home page, saves people asking.

Welcome to the forum Casper,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already posted this same question in the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the New Zealand Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/new-zealand-97/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
