X150 2007 4.2 L loses voltage when ambient temp is more than 22 C

I have had Jaguars since 1974 starting with an S-Type 3.8 L, then moving over to an XJ 4.2 Series 1/69 model in 1977, XJ12 C 5.3 V12 MY 1977 in 1982, an S-Type factory new in 1999 and an S-Type R, which I bought at the Geneva Motor Show stand in 2003. I did all the mechanical work with my Jaguars by myself until 1999.

Now I am a half happy owner of a very low mileage XK 4.2, fully optioned. But when the ambient temperature and/or the temperature in the car rises above 22 C, the car wont start, all the bells and whistles chime warnings, the gear lever can not be moved. The battery/batteries are fully charged. When the outdoor temperature and the interior temperature drop below 22 C everything works jolly with some warnings remaining for a few minutes, but then no hiccups. The local authorized Jaguar service shop "guesses" after three full days of paid work, that it "must be the instrument cluster". Ok, so I tried to make the problem reappear by using a separate interior heater raising the interior/instrument cluster temperature to +50 C. No problems, the car starts without a problem. Does anyone have an idea?

Welcome to the forum Mara50,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Did the Jaguar service shop "guesses" include the benefit of using Jaguar Diagnostics to narrow the possibilities or did they simply prefer an extended lottery at your expense?
