Default Updates on good mechanics?

There have been quite a few posts previously about this, but some date back a bit, not to mention some praise and others rubbish the same ones. I know Ken Stout has closed, and Beachams I get the impression are very expensive. The Toy Store is still around, and now I see Paul Walbran Motors in New Lynn are advertising they have an experienced Jaguar mechanic (Walbran's have traditionally been mainly MG specialists). Anyone had any recent experiences of good Jag mechanics? Taylors is one with a good reputation for engine rebuilds it seems. Any info on others would be greatly appreciated.

Are you looking for someone to service your series 1? I'm also assuming you mean Taylors as in Tom Taylor? Ken's has closed, its called Cook European now. Don't really know much about Paul Walbran, maybe someone on here has had some experience with them.

Not sure if it's Tom Taylor. Taylor's the firm is just off Khyber Pass Rd so it could be? Yes, although it's at this stage more advice and some serious resto, especially the engine, as the car needs to be got back on the road first.

Cheers
Graeme.

That's the place, Khyber Pass Rd and Auburn Street, #6 Auburn Street is the address. He's done quite a bit of engine work for Archibald and Shorter, from classic engines to modern. He can be a bit pricy from what I've heard, but pretty reputable. As far as the restoration goes, I'm not really sure about that, but I can ask around and get back to you.

For the restoration, I do know Beachams does restoration work, but I'm not sure how their pricing works or how much you're wanting to spend, as for others, I'm not too sure. If you're just looking for panel beating and paint, I'm sure there are a lot around. Eurotech does a lot of work with Jags, they are over in Mt. Wellington, Trevor and Marino would be the ones to get in touch with over there.

Thanks for that. I'll have a chat with Eurotech and see what they think.

Thanks for that.

The ZF 5HP24 has a level plug on the RH side towards the rear... very close to the exhaust.
Loosten it while cold so you dont burn fingers, but dont take it out until warm & run through gears and idling in park on the level.
