Interesting.

What wold also be interesting is to include a state-by-state cost-of-living factor.

Cheers

France: about 1,200 EUR / month. Before taxes.

Called the "SMIG" = Salaire MInimum Garanti.

The above is interesting. Not sure when it was published however it suggests state by state not a good comparison rather town by town is better.

Cost of housing is a huge factor which is why city comparisons make a big difference.

By my calculations the minimum wage for 25 and above in the UK is 1423/month based on a 40 hour week.

Doug, then you'd have to go county to county and cities therein. Example: In Calif, the state sales tax does vary in all counties affecting the cost of living.

No doubt.

That's why some cities (and perhaps counties?) have a different minimum wage. Or a different minimum wage for certain jobs or certain very exact locations. I think one city (Seattle?) has a specific min wage for those working inside the airport.

Way back when I worked in the middle of London UK I was paid a "London Weighting" payment to account for the higher cost associated with working in London compared to elsewhere. I did not live there just worked there.
I also got paid double time for working Sundays and once my weekly hours went above a certain amount even more. I worked a 3 shift system and was paid significantly more for that.

This was all when I was second level management. Many management positions today do not get paid for overtime.

I was young back then and in the right place at the right time.

For example:
The Housing Market in Chico California is said to be the Hottest in the Nation at the moment, due to the FIRES the last 6 months of 2018. Many Thousands have left the area because they simply can't afford to live there anymore.

Several of my friends have sold out and moved to Idaho! Or Washington. Or Colorado. Or.....

In that situation do they sell at a loss or way below what the market was before the fires?
