Default Lunch at the castle

My good lady and i will be popping over to the Castle Inn on Edge Hill near Banbury soon.
A lovely place and worth sharing. It is an old castle and I know some of our members will know the historic significance of Edge Hill.
The scene of one the first and the most savage and bloody battles of the English civil war. The story is fairly harrowing.
This is the inn, its a popular stop off for bikers to sit in the garden with cold drinks and admire the views.
Not far from the National Motor museum at Gaydon where there is a new Jaguar cars exhibition and it holds a monthly Jaguar owners meeting.

Are you a Banburyist as in Oscar Wilde's The Importance Of Being Earnest ?

No good sir I am not a Bunburyist, just selective.
I have little interest in the social lifestyle of the majority of people who follow some inane social repertoire very similar to Pavlov's dogs.
The middle classes I find to be incredibly tedious. My partner and I have an eclectic mix of friends who all bring something different to any
social meets although they all have their stories to tell.

I used to live about 10 or 15 miles from Banbury or Bunbury as we call it not for the reason you might think.
The town has a massive bakery plant and you can smell the yeast and cooking from miles away. Bun is a bread roll of sorts.
After a long day in London driving back on the M40 motorway the smell from Bunbury tells you you're almost home.
It was Jacobs but I think its Suchards now?

The hotel restaurant was very nice indeed, but my main course which was 16 for a basic roast dinner was a huge let down.

By the way, for Christmas day lunch we are having "an Indian" at a local restaurant. Just for a change.

I understand and I take it that you call a spade a spade, unlike some people who have never seen a spade in their life ...

Spot on Takeo.
My little lady has a lot of biker mates in northern England and "calling a spade a spade" is synonymous with northern English people. No pretence, no bullshit, no fake airs and graces. That is the main reason that I was privilidged to work in senior management positions in the construction industry. You can't bullshit your way in that business.

Show me a fake posh accent and I'll show them the door.
