Default N9MN Flying Wing Last One..Gone Crash

The last surviving (1/3 size) flying wing crashed . Only 4 were built and this one was the last one capable of flight. Many thousands of volunteer hours were spent restoring it to flying status.
The pilot was getting ready for the Chino CA.Planes of Fame air show coming in a few weeks

I used to hear tales when I was but a wee lass, of a Huge flying wing, 10 engines, that flew out of an airbase, more or less close to where I grew up.
The idea always Fascinated me!

I had seen this aircraft at the Pacific Coast Dream Machines show in Half Moon Bay several years ago. I had seen some stock footage of the actual, full size plane used in many different old 'science fiction movies from the 50's or '60s. It is a tragedy that the pilot lost their life trying to spread the awareness of aviation history, and condolences go out to their family and loved ones. It was an odd looking aircraft and I would imagine that it was a challenge to pilot even in the best of conditions.
