Bloody speedo still doesnt work, grrrrr So far:

Speedo out and checked OK
Speedo trans gears replaced during refurb
Today wiring continuity checked and all reterminated in heavy duty connector
All pointing to the sensor now , which is a bear to get out in the LUMP (or I have the colour code on the sensor wrong)
The battle continues, with GPS speedos looking better by the day :-)

"A country ran by idiots". The person who wrote that is certainly not well educated!

This is not political but sort of fun to see how Macron fails to run France.

Texting, Texting, TEXTING!!!!!!!!!! Over, and Over, and OVER!!!!!!!! Push the little green button !!! and talk for God's sake. You can say everything in a 2 minute conversation. For me its the ability to ask a question of people who I know are busy, the can answer it it when they have time to address it, and I am happy to wait. I think its more courteous than ringing them and potentially interupting them. I reserve phone calls that are truly urgent like your Jag/Spouse/Dog/House is on fire. Horses for courses I think. Also in my country unlimited national SMS/Texts are usually included in most phone plans.

Yes, Steve!
For Numerous generations humans have been conditioned to DROP EVERYTHING TO ANSWER A RINGING PHONE!
Sometimes it happens in the middle of a Very sensitive and delicate part of the task at hand; such as when I was soldering replacement components on the PC board of my monitor (swollen electrolytic caps giving a hinky picture), a Very delicate procedure indeed, which required all the concentration I could muster as I am Not electronics proficient.

AND THE ***** PHONE RANG!
ARRGH!

I agree that the calls tend to come at "Inopportune " times. But I also get frustrated with myself when I find myself texting what Should have been that 2 minute phone call!

True its easy to get in a groove. I have done that with my daughter , having a convoluted SMS exchange and then going gaaaaah! what are we doing ? we are both obviously available, just ring the girl :-)

See what I mean???? It is courteous when you have a pretty good assumption, the person is busy. But once they return the text you know they're not busy, so push the Damn Button!

The new generation brought up entirely in the virtual world, is extremely shy, apprehensive, and nervous of actual conversations.
In fact, they dont know how.

While texting is to them what 'hoping to get the answering machine' was to us; it goes way deeper; they were taught via video games, social media, internet forums and texting that reality is unpleasant.
Look whats happened in Japan. Nearly half of men and women admit to being virgins. Reason; they prefer animation- no joke.

I met in the elevator today a colleague whom I don't see often. We rode up to his floor in silence, with him looking at his phone the entire time. As he stepped out, he stated "nice talking with you."

Being self centred and thoughtless, thats what I want to grump about.

We have has a string of friends and acquaintances have major health issues. In each case their "friends" and family seem to have care factor zero except where it affcets them. Some examples:

A couple , one partner recovering from a stroke , the other recovering from major knee surgery. Their kids still think its fine to dump the grandchildren with them for 3 weeks while they swan off on holidays

Another couple , husband has a heart attack, has a couple of stents put in. Scary and debillitating for a few weeks but slowly coming back. Daughters who only live 150kms away couldnt find the time to visit him over the Christmas break.

Bloke next door also a having heart problems. Has a bit of a turn pre Christmas, sees the doc and gets booked into see a specialist at the end of Jan (such are the delays if you rely on the public health system here). The family still think it makes sense to have a massive 36 person event for Christmas at his place (nicer in the country) rather than shouldering the load themselves in town and maybe driving him back and forward.

Seems like if its not about me, its just noise.

One does not Know how to be caring if one was never taught, I think, and I have observed the teaching Must start early; like as babes in arms.

Among my multi-generational circle of friends, the most caring children (some are astonishing examples!) come from caring parents who took the time, not only to set the example, but in some cases, to hammer thoughtfulness and empathy into their children's thick heads. One of these families spans 4 generations of caring individuals!

They stand in stark contrast to average "children" (of Any age group), and are a pure Delight to know.
