I was about to complain about upcoming weather here in North Carolina, USA (actually located in what we call the South, a place where we "damn Yankees" from the industrious North move to upon retirement). This Wednesday night it will get down to 14 F (-10 C) and Thursday it will only get up to 34 F (1 C), more like my old stomping grounds in New Hampshire in the Winter.

But then I read about the weather in Australia. Good grief! You are a rugged bunch, aren't you?

Yep.

You know it is going to be a hot one when you turn ON he car ignition first thing and its already half way to N, and thats before you even start the thing.

As someone else said, "heated seats" WHY?

Awesome picture in that link, had to pinch it. Shows what a sheltered life I live.

Always pictured the Grand Canyon as an arid parched but beautiful landscape, have never seen it like that. Thanks Jayt2.

We don't consider it cold until it gets to -30C, that's when you put your beer in the snow bank. Not to chill it but to keep it from freezing solid.

I'm not a big fan of heated seats. At my age a sudden warming of your posterior usually triggers a move into the nursing home.

The Australian weather and brush fires made our national news this morning. Must be pretty bad to make our news. Keep safe boys.

Haven't seen the news in many years, if I don't hear it on the radio I don't know.
All good up north, a bit wet and humid but heading off camping in a few days, last time we went to this spot we got 500mm of rain in 4 days(they called it Brisbane 2011 flood) . Not a drop of water in the camper though, good old Aussie built, not a Chinese version.
Every one else in the camp ground must have had a TV(they all went home), but I had cold beer.

I love campimg.

Last pic was arriving home to get flooded in on a 7 house Island (one benefit of living on a hill top)with no power for 10 days. But a 5 kva generator and freezer of food, 4 boxes of beer, wine ,gas , tv and internet.....and a full tank of petrol to run the gen(we were party central). Could be worse, two houses down the street lost everything. We spent the rest of the holidays shovelling mud.
At the peak of the flood 15 hours later the water was lapping the front wheels of the Jeep, couldn't back it up any as the priceless cars from the water front homes were taking up hilltop parking spots. I had Delorean parked behind me and an Hk Monaro on my lawn(didn't know who it belonged to) people just stuck stuff where they could.

All must be ok for southern members, all are still posting.

Here's a video I made yesterday to show what we do for fun this time of year.
Sorry about the sound I should have turned down the defroster. The clicking you hear through out the video is freezing rain hitting the windshield.

Unreal Jeff.
I noticed you appeared to drive through 2 Stop signs.Might have trigged a very low speed pursuit. I guessing that was not a Jag you were driving.

What tyres, sorry tires, did you have on to get traction in that?

No the Jag is sleeping, that was my wife's Honda CR-V (you can hear her say careful, careful, a couple of times in the video) It has Bridgestone Blizzack WS80s and I highly recommend them.

Not to worry about the RCMP, (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) as most of their fleet is still Ford Crown Victorias

Default I don't like being cold anymore!

I woke up this morning and looked at the outside temperature on my weather station. It was early so I thought I was seeing things. The temp said -14F. I rubbed my eyes hoping it would change things, but sadly it did not.

I've live here for more than 40 years. I used to like going out in the cold and doing things. It was like telling Mother Nature to go @#$% herself.

Now, however, I don't like being cold at all. I would rather be hot and sweaty than cold and shivering all the time.

Someday I hope to retire someplace that is much, much warmer.

Default +1 for ventilated seats over here!

In the interests of health, I'm planning to borrow the wife's Rangie and go out diving in the boat, just as soon as I get the trailer bearings sorted..

Yep, still burning uncontained.

Burnt an area about as big as Darwin, according to the TV.

HOT northerlies tomorrow, so NO idea of what it will do. Forecast of 40ish C.

Rain coming, maybe, and lighting.

HA.

We are sitting on 38C and its 7pm. Tomorrrow is 40C+, and the fires are still burning. If you want something "much much warmer", come on down.
