$35,000 D-Type. At just 1% of the current market value of original cars, I get it.
SubscribeI wanted to understand the general consensus regarding replicas of very special cars like the Jaguar D-Type. Clearly, they aren't going to offer the same experience (nor investment potential) as an original car – but then they don't sell for $3,675,000 either. I found this article talking about one and it really made me curious.
Do replicas of halo vehicles like this represent something of a bargain for those of us that will never be able to afford the real deal? Do we have any replica owners in the forum? Are they a struggle to register and insure or was it pretty straightforward?
Sorry for the questions, but I'm one of those who can't afford an original car, so it got me thinking.

Welcome to the forum, In my opinion a replica of any car I really want and I couldn't afford would do the job. At least you would look the part and be able to park it and walk away without worrying about it too much.
Like the article said, you would have a lot more fun driving it than looking at pictures of the real thing.

I have not seen a Replica go for $35K. A company in Idaho, USA makes aluminum replicas an a base car would be twice that and their completed cars are easy near $100K. RCR Replicas have just started making a fiberglass D-Type, have not revealed price and I have not called yet. Proteus in UK makes aluminum replicas and have seen the in the $180K prices.
