Question Classic Jaguar Recommendations Please

With my current project the 1970 420G...

I will soon no doubt start looking for another "classic Jaguar" to add to my small collection.

As well as my personal cars they are now being used in my new venture:

Wedding Car Hire \ Chauffeur Driven Hire & Self Drive Hire

Jaguars I prefer are ones there was a limited number run at production.

My E-Type 1 of 1559 RHD - FHC S1 3.8
420G - 1 of 5763
x330 - 1 of 4973

Project - It seems every project gets bigger and harder but Im game.

Budget - For purchasing looking £5-10k but can be less obviously.

What would you recommend for my next project and why ?

Looking forward to peoples suggestions.......

Mark 11 3.4 or 3.8 S Type as the groom's car, also good for a getaway in case of problems!

(PS I've found a S1 XJ6 man with O/D LHD, was running when parked in a barn) not had a close look yet, but I know the owner, and it is white; with paperwork.) (B/Berry pics)

I hear alot about the Mk11 3.4 off my 86yr old step father used to have one as a company car...

The 3.8 S-Type I am a fan but dont know much about the model, maybe some investigation is required here !!

The S1 XJ6 I know there newer than the 420G, but personally I would rather have the 420G.

Great project though whats the interior like ??

Keep us posted on any developments you know you want it....

For your Self-Drive-Hire Division, I would suggest a Jaguar 240 with manual overdrive transmission. This is probably the most under-appreciated of the Mk 2 series (so it never went to some of the silly-Mk-2 price levels). The 240 has the best performing 2.4 litre version of the classic XK engine - with SUs rather than the previous 2.4's Solex carbs, and the late development straight-port head - so it can give a rather surprising turn of speed for the "slow Mk 2". The short-stroke 240 looooves to rev! Plus it has the full-synchro version of the classic Jaguar manual gearbox. I used to have a RHD 1967 240 that I imported to the States in the mid-1970s. It was amusingly faster (!) than the brand-new XJ6s of those years, which were hampered by US emissions control systems. A well turned out 240 would be a blast as a week's self-drive-hire on the B roads, and fully capable of keeping up in the right lane of the M roads.

Yeah I know, but it will still be available in another 10 years, I have a hankering for an X300 to replace the XJ40, prices are rock bottom in the NW and I can get round EU lights for a song compared with the big rectangles.

PS, I think that this XJ, has the same engine that Mike outlines, not had a good look yet, I need an excuse to visit the wine merchant (seller).

A quick glance at the interior wasn't too shocking but I'll take some pics when I can get down to it.
