Homebuilt/kit project car

5 Attachment(s)
I've started building a homebuilt car, using a 4.0 litre XJ40 Jaguar as the basis/doner car for the project. There's quite a lot of work ahead of me obviously, but hopefully I'll eventually have some success. I've currently got the driveline sitting on my transporter trailer, and looking seriously at an E-type styled fibreglass body kit. Next step is constructing a chassis to bring it all together.

Is the yellow body kit photo there as one of your options or have you gone ahead and purchased it?

Cool Project, Great start, I like the "Body Kit" but Yellow? It'll be loud, even before you start it!

The body kit has been moulded in yellow, but it'll likely be BRG when I'm done :-)

I rarely saw BRG Jaguars before I bought one. Now they're popping up all over the place.

A company in Auckland New Zealand, 'Cheetah Cars' made several kit cars back in the late '80s early '90s, they developed the kit. The kits were based on using an HQ Holden chassis. Only 8 cars were built and this kit was to have been the 9th.

The quality of the pieces look very good from what can be seen in the pics. I like the look of the pieces sitting over the chassis. Even the wheels look better then I expected. Now to make it all permanent. Good Luck.

There’s a Cheeta that runs in the Targa from time to time, runs a V8 of some description:-

Yes Rob, a Rover V8 I believe. There's another one for sale on Trademe, in the south Island... has a 202 Holden 6 in it.

Thank you for that Jack, I've been discussing a few of the finer details recently with a certifying engineer, and I'm not far away from submitting my plans to the LVVTA (Low Volume Vehicle Technical Association)
