All of them look good - I like the last one the most ... how long did you open the shutter - and did you use any kind of filter? Everytime I took a night shot - w/o an 80A filter, I ended up with too much reddish tint.

I love the shots with the XJ!

That last one had a .8 second exposure, so almost a second. I generally don't use filters, and when I do, it's either a neutral density filter or a circular polarizing filter. Any color casts that I get in my photos are corrected by changing the white balance in my RAW editor. Now, if you're talking film, that's a whole other animal;)

Thanks for your compliments. I work at one of the largest dealers in the US, so I get the chance to photograph some cool stuff!

Not the biggest fan of HDR, so the first picture doesn't do much for me. The rest are excellent however. Especially the last one with the XJ. Easily one of the best looking cars to photograph in a long time.

What makes you not like HDR?

I am assuming you're talking about the "look" of that photo... it really only looks like that because it was meant for newsprint. Normally, I'll bet you couldn't tell my HDR photos from the single exposures. I really only use HDR as a way of capturing extra stops of light. For example, the car is dark in color and in the shade of the tree. To capture detail in the vehicle and the extremely bright background requires multiple exposures. If I hadn't made this an HDR image, the sky would have been completely washed out, or the XF would have just looked black.

I definitely agree with you on the XJ thing. It is a great looking car from ANY angle.

It's just that there are a lot of amateurs out there that love to jump on the HDR bandwagon and often overprocess the photos and blow the colors, contrasts, etc. way out of proportion. And that pretty much ruins it for me.

I understand that the photo above was processed for newsprint so it has its purpose. When done correctly, I am a huge fan of HDR and its ability to significantly enhance a photo.

me too... sometimes I even see the occasional "overprocessed" one that I actually like! Usually, it's rubbish though.

Another photography enthusiast...welcome!

Wow. What a great eye for light and composition. You have the gift. Thank you for sharing these great pictures.

BriteRed01XKR 07-24-2011 09:14 PM

I enjoyed your pictures.

Now I know why I don't post my amateur pictures here!

I enjoy my pics but you probably wouldn't. This is obviously
for people who know what the heck they are doing and that
leaves me out! lol No problem though. Maybe I can just sit back
and learn and thing or two.

very very nice indeed, love the XKR pic

I like the photos in start, especially the middle one top shot. You sure got the skills to take good shots, but when it comes to looks, no other car can pose like Jaguar.

rhinouk 08-17-2011 03:09 AM

I like the middle one 2011 XJ in Cashmere

I like the last one best but they're all great shots.
