Jaguar X-Type Speedometer w/ MSG Center 66K

I have a Jaguar X-Type speedometer cluster off a 2004 with only 66K on the odometer.

It's in perfect condition.

Speedo

Hi, Are the miles stored in the speed unit itelf or the car's computer? If I put this in my car X-Type with 78,000 miles, will the computer update the new speedo (yours w/66k miles) to read the same 78k that I have now or will it read that the car now has 66k on it? Hate to mess with the warranty.
