2000 S Type

Well as you can tell I am new to this forum and even newer to Jaguars. I have always been a fan of Jags but have never really looked into purchasing one until I found my next potential purchase. I found a black on black 2000 S-Type it is automatic, 4.0L 8 Cyl., alloy wheels, CD player, heated seat-driver,heated seat-passenger,leather interior, and sunroof. The only drawback is it has 130,842 miles. The price is $5975, but should be able to get them to drop the price to $5,500 or $5,000.I really haveno idea of what to expect andknow nothingabout Jags, soI guess whatI am asking is what canI expect from this car and what shouldI know aboutthem?

Thanks,

Congrats and welcome.
You should expect some complements and all your friends to come out and say..." Dude, you hit the jackppot or something?"
Or "dude...you got some serious cash...lend me 50 bucks"

oh and don't forget the chicks....they love the car..and you'll be getting all the young honeys checking out the ride and saying...yeah...I wanna be with him..he's got a nice car and money!

lol....good luck...

Thanks for the welcome racerx82, but i was wondering about the problems others have had (valve cover, gaskets, timing chain tensioner, ignition coils, coolant tank, thermostat, and transmission). I can not inspect the car until I go topurchase it since the car is located in Minnesota and I live in New York, so i just want to know what to inspect when i go to look at the car.

Thanks,

Why would you travel that distance to purchase a car with that many
miles? If it was a Mercedes or BMW I would say fine, they have
proven motors. Inspect it firstor walk away:eek:

Well i suppose you can check the basics....oil leaks under car, maintenance record, maybe do a carfax report to see if it was in an accident or milage tampering....

I'm not sure where your mechanical abilities are, but the vehicle inspection can get pretty deep.....best to really pay a Jag dealer to do the 200+ point inspection. Spending 300 for it is cheap....compared to buying it and having a lemon on your hands....at least with the inspection, you can make an educated decision prior to buying since you'll have the facts....
