Default 2003 S-Type Misfires

I just bought a 2003 Jaguar S-Type Sport V6 3.0 with 89000 miles.
It had a CAT Sytem Fault on the display. I disconnected the battery and cleaned the connectors because they were a little corroded. After reconnecting it the CAT Sytem fault went away. Shortly after the check engine light came on and started idling rough and at 3000 rpms it throws me into performance restricted.
It is giving me the codes:
P0300
P0303
P0305
P1313
P1316
P1111

I had all spark plugs, ignition coils and the valve gasket changed. I am still having the same problem and my mechanic doesn't know what is wrong. I noticed that my battery is weak. Could the battery cause these issues? I if not what could be the issue.

P1316 Injector Circuit, did you check the injector connectors or bad fuel?

I didn't check the injector circuit. Are you saying this could be caused by bad gas?

Caution: please read the codes PDF especially the early stuff about misfires which specifically addresses P1313 etc.

Could easily be an air leak, have a look at fuel trims at idle and at 2500rpm.

I will review the pdf on the codes.
I have not looked at the trims at idle or 2500. How do I find that?

a few thigs, have you got oil leaking into spark plug wells via rocker cover gaskets?

im not sure if these jags have this but there sometimes is a converter or some kind of voltage regulater that gives the coils the correct voltage, if this fails then coils will be all over the place with regards to voltage, maybe someone can help me out here?

injector plugs loose?

water ingress into coil packs or spark plugs, or throttle position sensor?

I'm sure this was well-intentioned but some of those are BADLY WRONG.

Please ONLY refer to the right codes data which also means taking into account the car details (make, model, year etc).

one thing to note the p1313 catalyst fault is probablybeing caused by the misfires, they are normally fairly strong and will normally recover once the misfires are stopped.

There was oil leaking into the spark plugs. That why my mechanic replaced the valve gasket.

Any P1 code is by law make-dependent and the maker can then do as they like, including being weird if they wished.

JTIS has the codes data. Search can find JTIS I expect...

Note that there is extra data in the codes PDF than just text and it's there to help so is worth reading...

If the car still has its factory IMT O-rings, change them to the new-and-improved version. Leaky IMT O-rings on the V6 S-Types often cause the misfire problems that so many of them eventually develop. New IMT O-rings are cheap and relatively easy to do. See the various threads here in the S-Type FAQ section that provide you with step-by-step instructions on two different approaches on how to do the job....

Thank you for all of your help, but I think I found the problem. I called my mechanic again to verify the codes which were:
P0300
P0303
P0305
P1316
P1313
P1111
Then I asked what he did and turns out he didn't replace the ignition coils like he said he was going to and charged me for. (So I will be getting some money back). So I went to Autozone and checked the codes again and this time they are:
P0300
P0301
P0302
P1316
P1314
P1111
I am pretty sure that I have two bad ignition coils. I am going to replace them and see what happens. Can anyone direct me to a manual for how to change the ignition coils? And which coils are which?

Lots of posts for your engine type. Or JTIS, of course.

Cornpop,
I posted my experience with changing all my plugs and coils several months ago. I had most of the same codes you have now. The cat converter codes will most likely go away when you change the coil packs. Mine did.

Part of my story was that I did the complete job and then still had a mis-fire. Turns out one of my brand new coil packs were defective right out of the box!!! I had to do the entire job over again because the one with the miss was the #6 cylinder which is at the back of the engine on the passenger side and you have to remove EVERYTHING to get to it. Then again a month later the SAME COIL PACK failed again so I got to do the job for a 3rd time. I can do it in about 20 minutes now. lol. I replaced that coil pack and everything has been excellent since.

Do a search for all my posts under my name and I'm sure you'll find it. I listed part numbers and everything that I thought would help someone do the job.

Let me know if I can help. Good luck!

That's too many bad out of the box!!

Can you post what brand and part number you are using?? Might help steer someone to a better brand. It's very maddening to keep doing the same repair!!
