2004 STR Transmission issues

Hello everyone
I have a 2004 STR which had leaking transmission lines, sleeve and pan gasket. These were all replaced along with new ZF fluid.I also changed the diff fluid with Royal Purple synthetic(same grade recommended by jag).
The car had the surging problem between 40-60km/hr and took a long time to go into 6th gear on the highway.I had the car's transmission reprogrammed by jag which helped for a while. The surging cam back.I then took the car to my local mechanic who cleared a code between traction control and transmission.
The surging has gone away, however, the transmission still takes along time to go into 6th.Oddly enough, whenever I take the sport button off and push it back on the trans shifts into 6th gear immediately.
My trans guys says this is not being caused by the transmission and believes something else is causing the issue.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Fitz, when in "Sport" mode", it's normal for the 6th gear (overdrive) to take its time to shift. If she's shifting properly into 6th in "Normal" mode, then all is ok.

I didn't know it shifted into 6th in sport mode. I usually take it out of sport when I get on the freeway. :icon_boat:

The surging may be a failing torque converter. Try Search and do some reading...

Hi there
The surging seems to have corrected itself after the codes were cleared.
The transmission seems to shift properly if I am light with it in normal mode.It previously shifted fine into 6th gear in sport mode.It is taking longer to shift for some reason these days.
