My main key fob doesnt unlock doors and all 3 other buttons. I ordered a new one off ebay for 15$. I just changed batterys on main on but doesnt work. Whats the proccedure to program the new key fob. I seen a bunch of youtube videos but the methods dont work. Can some one post a step by step for the 2005 jaguar stype 3.0 v6
If you have a kind dealer like the one in my town, they'll be keen to do it for around 10 Pounds (just programming)
Key cutting on the other hand is quite expensive
The keys need the Jaguar SDD software to be programmed to your car.
The version you need for an 05 model year S-type is SDD 130.
SDD 130 only runs on a Windows XP computer with code to reset the date each time it is turned on and no internet connection.
To add a new key fob using SDD you have to remove all existing fobs from the system and then re-add all the key fobs as well as the new ones all over again, you cannot just add one new one.
It should be noted that the latest version of the SDD software does not work with the S-Type so any dealer or independent must use the older software.

The FOB and the key are two different things. The key starts the car and the FOB locks/unlocks the car.
I think he is talking about the FOB portion.
But take a look here as it takes SDD to program the key or the FOB.

The key fob has a transducer in the nose section where the key comes out which communicates with the vehicles security system. This transducer is separate from the keypad portion of the key fob. The keypad portion is used forUnlocking and locking the doors. The transducer talks to the the security system to allow the car to start
Yes you are correct.
Here is the actual transponder;
It's tucked into the top half of the switch blade key.
Here is it's location;
Now I had a strange problem when I purchased new keys/FOBs on EBay. One of them came without a transponder!! This would have been a real disaster because I only had one key for this car and after wiping all the keys only to find out one of the new ones would not program!! I was lucky and got curious about how these keys are made and took both of the new ones apart and found it missing.
Terrible picture because I had to hold the FOB with one hand and try to take a picture.
Also see this very detailed instruction set for programming these type of keys. I think it answers most questions and I found out way more than I planned about Tibbe keys!

I found out about the transducer the hard way. When I bought two spare keys off ebay and tried programming two of them using the cut original key for both fobs. I held the spare key next to the ignition with the original cut key in the switch. The two transducers cause the program to fail so I had to shield the original transducer using aluminum foil. It was scary for a while
