2005 S-Type R radiator hoses ( Upper & Lower)
So in looking around I see several different version of these hoses based upon vin # per the Jaguar EPC. Of course they're all absurdly priced b ut offered at cheaper prices on some websites but the lower hose for 2006 - 2008 is $15 vs $139 for the one specced for my car. It "looks" the same in pictures as the one for my car but what's difference and has anyone tried?
XR841496 VS XR850361 Not that I'm thrilled by using genuine jag hoses as they are complete crap. BTW, have you noticed how thin and lightweight they are? My upper hose cut and peeled back internally as I got it off of the aluminum fitting on the engine side with has a rather sharp lip - dumb dumb dumb. That one I may go down to the local parts house and try to match up. It doesn't look so exitically shaped. The lower hose assembly involves a plastic center section but I might look for the rubber end pieces in a matchup with thicker hose. Then there's all the other hoses  which I will leave alone for now. |
Well this DOES look very different for the upper hose.

LOWER: My downloaded JEPC isn't connected for updates of course so some of these numbers have changed but it "looks" like XR850361 is possibly a superseding part number for XR841496 which lists for $139! The LEPC indicates a supersession but ... confirming this is still elusive. I hope so... The replacement I can get for $16.
UPPER: XR841798 lists for a lovely $123 and what I think is the replacement XR851818 is more like $14. There's an eBay listing from a Jag dealer that makes reference to these two being the same? Gaudin seems to confirm that, but not at such good prices.

I replaced mine with silicone hoses from vibrant. Used a stainless steel joint section for the lower instead of plastic.
