Ok so my car has only had this engine light for about 1000 miles car has 73500 miles I did a lot of self diagnosing first like the fuel trims and the 02 sensor readings seemed at least in spec I bought DENSO Upstream and downstream sensor the bank 2 side and replaced the fuel filter and still same code no change what could it be this is the shops findings the say the sensor I just bought is reading wrong and more on top on that like maybe a bad cat what do you guys think thank you.
One bit of friendly advice: You've started a second thread for the same issue. It's best to add the latest info to the existing thread, versus starting anew. It's too easy for good troubleshooting advice to get lost, and is a lot easier for others to follow.
The P2098 code is fairly rare. In your other thread (linked above), post #3, the downstream O2 sensor is listed as one of the possible culprits. Since you're only getting the fault on system 2, I'd suggest swapping downstream sensors from side to side, and see if the fault follows. If no change, the next possibility is the upstream sensor for system 2. So the next step is to swap the upstream sensors from side to side and see what happens. Won't cost anything but a bit of your time. Those wide-band sensors are expensive, so as cheap as I am, I'd try swapping before shotgunning new parts.
I don't think the cat is failing. If it was, you'd be getting code P0430.
