2007 STR Front Brake Pad Removal and Replacement

Anyone had experience replacing front brake pads on a 2007 STR? What is the size hex needed for removing the caliper bolts? Are they like the rear ones that are accessed by removing the plastic plug? I relaced the rear ones today with advice obtained from this forum. Thanks!!!

You need a 9mm hex head. Yes, just pull off the plastic caps for access.

You need to remove the spring clip in the front first.

I have been using Jaguar pads for replacements even though they are hard on the rotors. This time I used CENTRIC pads from RockAuto. I'm not too happy with the pedal feel so I will probably go back to Jaguar on the next replacement.

It's not a bad job. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Ron, but mine seem to have a larger bolt. The largest hex I have is 10mm and it is too small. I have heard that the calipers on the R models are larger than the ones on the standard V8 or V6.

I have a 07 STR as well. Are you sure the socket is going in? The 9mm hex socket goes deep into the back of the caliper to reach the hex bolt.

There are black plastic. Caps behind the caliper, you are I suggest looking at the bolts that hold the calipers together.
The R symbol is the spring clip
I use EBC red stuff pads far better pads and far less dust.

The ref to larger calipers tends to be to Brembos that aren't fitted to the 2007.
