Automatic gear problem
Any suggestions most welcome re my Jaguar. 2003 S Type, ran like a dream until recently. At this point automatic gear change does not happen (or very rarely) and I have to use the manual gear change. Jaguar service people had the car for some days and said they couldn't identify the problem as it happened only once or twice during the time they had the car. Leaves me pretty disappointed and uncertain as to whether I should drive any distance with the car. Hope you can help. Oliver

Find a good jag indy.

First thing I'd check is the battery then the gearbox fluid level and the gearbox cable is properly adjusted

Seconds on the recommendation to take it to an indy Jag shop, or an indy transmission shop that has seen ZF transmissions before (aka, likely not AAMCO).
I'm assuming the dealership didn't tell you about any TCM codes? They checked fluid levels? The "fake" manual shifting on your gearbox is really just computer-assisted shifting. That your vehicle moves and shifts at all, and presumably doesn't sound like a dying moose every time you shift, makes me wonder about the TCM, solenoids, and electrical issues rather than a mechanical tranny issue. |
