Cv axle nut
So I have broke the casing on the cv axle nut on my 2000 s type 4.0 and now I have 5 thin nuts. My question is first of all what size is the original nut? Also what cars out ther have the same nut size as the 2000 stype 4.0? The dealer is selling the nut for $30 plus shipping which is $10. I was hoping to go to the junk yard and find something a little cheaper.

Never heard anyone doing that before!
Parts catalogue might show it for you, grab JEPC from here. Dying to know what happened.... |
I don't understand what broke? Any pictures? The hub nuts are large and take a lot of torque to tighten. I have never damaged one.
. . . |
do you mean the nuts that hold the wheel on ?

Yes guys I think they call that a constant torque nut. When I redid the axles on my wife's car one of them just fell apart into slices. It is a one time use nut, I think. My new axles came with new nuts so I didn't worry about it. If you can't find an answer on the size before then, I will be back home Saturday night and can get it for you. Also if I can find it and you want it, I can send you the one nut that survived disassembly if it is still any good.
My oops, here. I didn't read carefully enough. Our car is X type but I bet they are the same. |
Probably not the same.

So after a long walk around the salvage yard I finally found a different car with the same nut for the cv axle. For anyone with the same issue the 01 Chevy Malibu uses the same exact nut. I got them for free just had to pull them myself. The dealer would have charged me $40. Thanks for all your help.
