Hi KR98664 and JagV8,

A solution might be dawning

I opened both switches and although they have the same number, the inside is different. They have a different PCB, looks as if the secundairy are not connected in one of them.
So perhaps they have sent me the wrong one.
Do you know if there are different switches for different types. ie. manual or automatic; diesel of petrol?

They all look alike in the Electrical Guides for the various years as far as I can see.

Surprisingly different.

The one on the right clearly has the 453ohm resistors shown in the elec guides.

hmm, so does the other, just at other places.

The later cars have the EPB module itself on the CAN bus rather than SCP, but it doesn't appear to change the paddle board etc. (Or I missed something.)

True, but in the right one the secundary pins are not connected.
So it has to be the left one.

Or i missed something as well

With each connected in turn you might measure the effect of paddle up & down to see what happens. By the sounds of it only one of them will do what's needed.

You don't actually need it connected but may be easier and anyway checking at the module if it can "see" the up & down is what's needed next.

After that, I suppose it's what the module does, if anything.

The module can report faults I believe but you'd need IDS/SDD, or the like - such as an iCarSoft 930 or LR-2 (LR-II?).

What's the history of this car? This is fairly new to you, isn't it? Perhaps the previous owner had the same problem and tried replacing one of the switches. I don't really know the details, but would think they would be the same. I wonder if the wrong part was installed, and so the problem continues.

Does anybody else have one of these assemblies available to verify the part numbers and how the circuit boards look?

This is new to me, indeed. only thing i can think of is that the same outside of the EPB switch is used in different models.
I bought the car at an auction with FSH (but a dead battery) but no mentioning of any tampering with EPB.

So i hope the broken one is the original (otherwise i have to visit a dealer). although the switch was fastened with 2 bolts and not 4. So someone in the past….????.

I have ordered a new one on ebay, i'll keep you posted!

Problem solved!!!!!

There are different EPB switches although they look alike.

i have bought another one which matches the PCB nr:191553 (see picture) and it works again!!
