Front Shock absorbers?
I am fed up of the bouncy front end on the car. Speed humps in particular which are a blight of the British road network.... and shopping centres and car parks. I have to go so slow over them because the car slams down once the front wheels have passed the speed hump. Same with driving over the edge off of not very tall road kerbs, the front really dips down.
Having had the front wheels off a few times I noticed how the passenger side shock looks much older than the drivers side. The drivers side looks in fairly new condition in comparison. I suspect one has been replaced and the other one not seeing as the car was MOT'd just before I bought it. But they are both unbranded and they look too spindly to my eye. The shocks have no electronics, this is the SE model not the sport. So asap I am going to get some new front shock absorbers. Can someone please recommend some decent branded shocks at real world prices? Its an older car and I'm driving less in recent years. I don't push the car hard it because has to last. |
I went with Bilstein shocks for my wife's 2006 XK8 (new rear shocks in October 2014 and new front shocks in January 2016). Excellent quality and a well-known brand. Shop around online - many vendors sell them and you can always find a deal if you look hard enough....

Have a look at SNG Barratt:
SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist Dampers are VIN-specific about £100 each. |
I suppose also check neither spring is broken. They can lose part of an end and yet sort of work.

I think I will replace the springs at the same time seeing as the springs aren't very much. The front end takes a hammering so may as well. |
