Default Fuel Pump Removed - Need to ID Part of Pump

I'm in the process of replacing my fuel pump on my 2000 3.0 S-Type. I remove fuel pump and notice that the little external flat filter had degraded and all the debris is in the tank. So I removed all the fuel and cleaned out the bottom of tank.

FYI, I purchased a Delphi fuel pump kit which contains a pump motor, gasket, and some small flat filters. I've attached a photo the kit.

When removed the fuel pump, I noticed it needs some maintenance. The large black rubber hose needs to be replaced (easy fix). The hose is connected to something that looks like a fuel filter. I've attached a photo showing a red arrow of the part in question. According to JTIS, the fuel filter is located behind the front driver's side wheel. So what is this part and where/how do I get a replacement?

JEPC calls the filter a 'FILTER' (FUEL TANK) Part number XR817558.

Someone has been at that fuel pump. That's an external fuel pump instead of doing the job right.

Get rid of that thing!

The parts you have in the other pic actually goes into the assembly on the fuel pump. The fuel sock is readily available also.

Abonano, could you please elaborate on your comment? Are you stating the filter is an external filter and I don't need it? FYI, there is a Youtube video in replacing the fuel pump:
When he pulls out the pump, it is the exact same configuration as mine (with the fuel filter) and the person states that shouldn't be there.

What you recommend specifically?

The Delphi part seems identical to what is in the plastic housing. Looking at the pic again the square fuel sock is included. That will go at the bottom of the fuel pump assembly.

Your arrow is a aftermarket fuel pump. Not factory at all. That was hacked in there. Needs to go.

Not sure how much more specific I could be...

The arrow is pointing to #17 in the JEPC diagram. It is the filter part number I referenced in post #2.

The filter can be seen on page 3 of the TSB 310-01am.

I was mistaken. Thanks for clearing this up. I learned something new today. When I pulled my fuel pump out of my 2000 S Type 4.0 it was botched up pretty bad...

I wound up installing a fuel pump assembly from a breaker and the car is still going strong with it's new owner at 267,000 plus miles.

Good to see my tensioner job has held up nicely

Thanks for all the replies and for posting the TSB. I ordered the green gasket and a filter from the local Jag dealer.

You'll probably need to replace that hose and clamps as well when replacing that fuel filter, especially if your car falls into that VIN range motorcarman mentioned.

Update: I installed all the fuel pump components that came with the Delphi kit, replaced the filter and the rubber hose. I then inserted the fuel filter back and filled the tank with fresh gas. When I turned the key (before cranking), I could hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. When I cranked it, it wouldn't start. I tried off and on for about 10 mins and no luck.

The next day, I went to Harbor Freight and purchased their fuel pressure gauge for $20. Before testing the fuel pressure, I tried to start it one more time and it started right up! Woo hoo!!!

So thank you everyone for your help.
