Hood/Bonnet Gas charged lift support

My hood lifts were getting weak and not holding like they should. The dealer replacement was $114 each..Not happening. Dropped by O'Reilly and checked what they had in stock. Ended up buying a pair of STABILUS Lift-O-Mat brand OE Gas Charged Lift Supports. They fit perfectly and the hood now works like it should. The Stock # SG314036. Price: $27 each. I am sure you can get them most auto places, but if you need them, these work and will save some cash for other things. Warranty is Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Stabilus Bonnet/Hood struts

1 Attachment(s)
My bonnet nearly crushed me on the weekend. Luckily I had come inside to get some more tools while a wind gust had flung the bonnet down..
I have called Stabilus here in Melbourne Australia and they have sent me a list of part numbers attached if anyone wants to source the original replacement.
The details on Satbilus part no 612084 fitted to the Jaguar S type is it is 494mm long and 250N with plastic ball socket ends.

The details David listed below in his 2015 post appears to be for a Sachs brand part number.
Still unclear if this is the same company or the same unit? Perhaps someone may know.
The Sachs units as David had mentioned are much cheaper at half the price. Not sure though if they are correct for this application.
The OEM Stabilus units are the 'non locking' type, which I believe are designed to hold and keep the weight of the bonnet and not to put the pressure/weight on the cars ball joints to which the struts are attached.

Here's what I recently installed on my '02:

Evan Fischer #EVA13910201556.

Less than $32 for the pair, with free shipping. I'm very pleased with them. They fit and work perfectly.

Thanks for that kr98664.

Do you know where these units are made? The original German made units lasted over 15 years..

Very much appreciated. Thank you.
I emailed Stabilus back commenting about them and Sachs being the same company but no reply.
I suspect both brands are part of the ZF group.

I purchased ours through forum sponser SNG Barrett. A little more than Karl paid but they sell good quality aftermarket parts.

Not sure of the X202, but the BA Ford Falcon bonnet struts fitted the X200 perfectly. Monroe brand, KYB, Gabriel.

I got Monroe, in stock at work on the day, and $37 each, 10 minutes of the boss's time, done.

No markings on them to indicate the country of origin. It may have been on the packaging, but I didn't save that.

I'm not too worried if these don't match the service life of the originals. It's not like a fuel pump or set of coils that might leave you stranded.

BA Falcon! Nice one Grant. Well done! I am sure the boss didn't mind.
Would be the same struts on the X202.
