Hood for S-Type R hood?
Just wondering if anyone had a source for a discounted 2005 S-Type R replacement aluminum hood.
I've just bought an STR - unfortunately it has a fairly big dent to the hood. From what I've read, it could be fairly expensive to get this repaired - so wanted to look at the cost of a replacement hood - despite my best efforts, I can't find one online.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Mark

Thanks. I've spent about an hour researching wreckers but can't seem to find any (even steel S-Type hoods). But I'll keep on searching and thanks again. But thanks again for your suggestion.
Thanks. I researched the STR and it suggested the STR had an aluminum hood - but I may well be wrong! Just out of interest, how much did a new hood cost? - did you buy it from a dealer or another source?
My apologies - I looked again on the web and it appears all 2005 S-Types have an aluminum hood.

I don't know the cost yet. I hope to pick up the car this week. We had a delay because the first grille from Jaguar was scratched and they sent it back.
They fixed the fender which I am not happy about but will wait and see what it looks like. I wanted it replaced.

The hood is aluminum and very light. I removed it when I did my hood liner and if it wasnt so big I could of lifted it by myself. They are probably just as hard to find in wreckers as a 05+ front bumper. Dont really see to many 05+ in the wrecker yards. They probably are not totalled as often as 03-04's. Who knows but you might get stuck getting new. If you search on Google there is a data base of body shops that can work with aluminum and may be able to fix your dent. Some of the higher end body shops that deal with Audis do it since the A8 is entirely aluminum and so is the XJ. I'm sure if you do some research you can find a shop that knows what they are doing.
An 03-04 will give you 2 holes for washer nozzles so you would have to deal with those if you go with an earlier year. Here is a VIN part # breakdown from JEPC.

It does not specify differences between the R and the regular S type. These are all leaper hoods also as European hoods dont have the hole for leaper mounting. Also not sure where 05+ picks up in the VIN list to know which numbers would apply. But hopefully this helps some.

I totally forgot about that 1.

I agree with Jim - ask a salvage yard to find you a hood. They can look it up in their nationwide database. Save you a lot of time and screwing around.
