Default S-Type R boot emblem

Hello all-

The new toy doesn't have a trunk emblem stating it is a R type.

Did all cars have this?

Thanks.

No. Could be chosen when ordered or removed by an owner.

Mine all faded from the sun so you might be better off to order 3 new ones and update your car. I went with the factory "R" but
there are several different styles of the "R" too.
They are just plastic with double sided tape on them.

So you are saying that an original owner could choose not to get an R emblem on the boot?

I understand so.

And could choose them on the sides (front wings), if they wanted more.

Add as many as you like

Most high-end European marques have an option for deleting badges/model designations on the initial order for the car. This goes back to at least the late 1970s to early 1980s when owners of luxury cars were sometimes targeted by radical groups such as the Red Brigades or Bader-Meinhof gang.

I'm not sure why I didn't consider this scenario.

I recall when I was in high school and Patty Hearst was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army..All the people that ordered high end vehicles had a Yugo emblem installed on the trunk. I have to assume that most of these terrorist groups weren't really car guys so the illusion probably worked.

Thanks!

As well as the de-badge option when new it is not unknown for the R badge not to be replaced when the cars have rear damage repaired as the badge is quite expensive when purchased from Jaguar (part number XR837159 £43.45.)
Are the other R parts on the back, like the spoiler, lights and bumper?

There are a number of vehicles I know of that would rate a Yugo badge. A simple lemon stick on would do.

The S-Type R badge is rectangular, and is different than the XK. The side R badges look the same as the 2004-2008 XJ, but those trunk badges specifically say XJR.

Used original donors occasionally show up on EBay, pricey at $50 or so.

The boot badge is specifically for the S-type. Part number XR837159 (£43.45 from Jaguar.)

However side R badge is the same as used on the side of the XJ and the XK. The part number was XR830872 but was updated to C2N2446 (£38.52 each from Jaguar)

See this link for all the s-type badges:
