Immediate Help Needed! Jaguar S-Type R - Traction Control Problem
I have a 2003 Jaguar S-Type R. I am selling the vehicle but the buyer is insisting there is something wrong with the traction control on the car. When accelerating quickly from 0-60mph the traction control light will come on and it feels like the tires will slip or there is a jolt/delay in accelartion. The tires are a little low on tread, but the ground is completely dry. The buyer claims that this is NOT a tire issue but something wrong with the traction control (i.e. possible a sensor).
There is no traction control fault. But when the traction control is turned off, this does not appear to happen. Any ideas what the issue could be? Or if there is even an issue? |
Um no, that is what it is supposed to do. The traction control is coming on and cutting the power to the engine. That is how traction control works.
|
Your buyer is an idiot and dose not deserve a STR. The tires are spinning and the TC is cutting on like it is meant to.

Sounds like he wants to get the price waaaaayyy down with a false complaint...

+1 on the above, all good comments

He claims that the traction control is being used when it should not be (i.e. on the dry road when the car is accelerating quickly).
I am not sure what he is referring to. Apparently it is turning on and causing a brief fault/jolt/stop in the acceleration when the car accelerates from 0-60. When he turned the traction control off. This fault/jolt/stop did not occur when accelerating from 0-60 quickly. He claims that it is not a tire issue because, in his words, if anything the tires with this type of wear (i.e. about 4/32nds of tread left) should grip the dry road better. Any idea if this is an issue or what he is talking about? |
Find another buyer! You have nothing wrong with your car.
|
Ya I can punch mine on a drive road from a roll and get the traction light to come on

All is well. The buyer is trying to "negotiate" or does not understand what he is seeing. Make him read the owners manual. Show him this thread. Then add $500 to the price. |
The worn rear tires further exacerbates the intervention of Driver Stability Control... Concur; add $500 to price plus the New York State's $85 statuatory "Idiocy" surcharge.

okay from a 14 yr Master Jaguar tech.....he doesnt know what he's talking about. Thats normal operation. the slip light comes on when wheel spin is detected(much faster than you), it reduces torque output momentarily to regain traction and the light blinks while actively doing this. Find another MORE INFORMED buyer. :)

HAHA, what an Arse.
From my experience, this is how traction control feels in ANY vehicle. Some vehicles are just not capable of spinning the tires like the STR. |
+1 on all the comments, find another buyer, this clown doesn't deserve any car with enough power to 'light them up'.
Just for info- 'bald' tires have more traction available on bare pavement than new tires. The tread grooves on tire simply help with wet/contaminated surfaces. |
Does this buyer realize that the car has around 400hp/400ft-lbs of torque?
Tell him to go pound sand. With his traction control on. |
my traction control does exactly the same, nothing wrong with it.

And howbout a update walla walla, you let him know or just blew him off

Would that be instead of a price drop? |
