Greetings and congratulations on a fine choice of carriage. The Jaguar S-Type is still seen by many as the finest compact saloon the company has made, albeit with some quirks and weaknesses. That said, your quest for parts can be satisfied in 2 ways -
Ken
- first, our Forum Stickys have a multitude of downloads available to you - workshop & owners manuals, TSBs, writeups, and other resources like electronic parts catalogues;
- second, sponsors eg SNG Barrett, are not only a valued supplier but also should be tapped for their excellent parts catalogue for your car;
- beyond them, use google and the 'bay to source suppliers - often some real bargains to be found there.

Read up on here about chain tensioners (for the timing chain) and related parts as your engine will self-destruct sooner or later on the original kind.
Not much point doing anything else to the car otherwise
By way of example https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...verted-192088/

Agree, agree, agree, you must, must must determine if the original plastic tensioners have been replaced.
Otherwise, Ms Valve please meet Mr Piston...
However, with a car that age I might image that it has been done already.
But you should make sure. And there are two of them on each side, upper and lower. The upper ones are "easy" to replace but lowers not so.

You dreamed of a big star -
He played a mean guitar -
He loved to drive his Jaguar...
So welcome to the machine
