Default Just purchased an S-Type and have a number of issues with it - can anyone help?

I have recently purchased a 3litre manual Jaguar S-Type and have a few issues which need to be sorted out.

Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on these problems.

1 - Metalic rattle which sounds like it is coming from under the gearstick area. Usually heard when changing gear but also heard when driving at high speed the other day.

I have had a look under the gearstick gaitor but cannot see anything.

2 - The centre console (where the DSC button is) heats up an awful lot.

3 - Passenger's side front and rear windows dont work - however you can still hear the electric window motor working.

4 - Alarm keeps going off unless you stick the keys into the ingnition with seconds of opening the driver's door. The key fob is out of batteries. Would new batteries cure this problem?

5 - Under heavy acceleration there seems to be a slight misfire.

I have a few other problems as well but most of these can easily be resolved.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

6 - Forgot to mention; the climate control sounds like it is on all the time despite being turned 'off'! Sounds like it blowing air down to the feet area.

Also, when you press the blue down button it only goes to 19 degrees - doesn't go any lower - it does go higher though.

First thing to do is check the battery to make sure it's OK. Check all cells to make sure there's no weak ones. If it's more than 3-4 years old, you might think about replacing it.

Its a 2000 model.

And it is a V6.

What are the common faults with these cars?

You probably need new regulators for the window.
Put a battery in the fob and see if that works.
You need to get the codes read to check on the misfires, but an airleak would be favourite.
When you say the climate control is off are you phyaically turning it off so that the screen is blank?
You should post an intro in the new members section, I'm sure you are going to want to access attachements etc soon. New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
