Default Hi and NA radio code

Hi there, I am new to the forum and just bought a 03 3.0 S type.
Reading the various forums it seems that a hard reset is a cure for many ills, according to the drivers handbook a code is required for UK and European models, does this mean that North american models don't need a code?
Just want to be sure in advance, and not look like an idiot asking the dealer for a code I don't need

Thanks thats what I thought, but the handbook seems to imply the opposite. Maybe it needs an edit!

Hmmm...I've deployed overseas right now with my Jag in storage. The battery is disconnected so I assume I'll need a code to get the radio/cd working again? I have no idea what it is. Will I have to take it to the dealer to get it reset?

Upon a little research...I don't know how much the dealer charges for this, but found this site.

You will need the code to get the radio going again, maybe a trickle charger would have been a good idea.
If you have the title and VIN I don't think the dealer should charge for the code, assuming it is the original unit for the vehicle.
