The Lurch has gone...so far....
I have had the Lurch since I got my S Type, type 2 I think where it lurches as you come to a halt. It had more or less gone away with using Sport mode all the time.
Then, three days ago I had been driving around on errands and after pulling away from traffic lights the car lost power briefly and a warning 'gearbox fault' (or something similar) came up. I pulled in and stopped and switched the engine off. I checked the manual which stated such an error reading was an 'amber' warning and it not mention taking the car to your dealer. So I turned the engine back on and have been driving about for three days, with no Lurch. Has the gearbox reset itself? |
The disappearing lurch-wouldn't that be a miracle! I doubt it though. Mine stopped "lurching" for about a month once and then started back up again. The dealer had to reprogram it 3 times and replace the fluid and add an additive to finally fix the problem. Now she's smooth as silk.

Yesterday, for the first time since my original post I had a lurch. Then today driving home the gearbox fault light came on again, but there was no loss of power. I pulled in, turned off the engine and a few seconds later turned it back on again and off I went, no lurch, no issues.
Has anyone got any idea of what is going on. I have had work done on the transmission when the car went into a dealer to have its oil filter cooler changed under warranty. Is there a connection? |
How long ago did they do the work and how often / how far have you driven it since?
I'm struggling to understand "oil filter cooler"... the filter has its own cooler? What is that they did? |
I found out about the recall here
http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/re...YPE&lowIndex=3 It is only for the diesel and on mine they did change the filter, not just reprogramming it. I have covered a good 1000 miles and it is a couple of months since the work was done. |
