Manual gearbox 5 speed problem, need parts

Hi all,

I'm sorry that my first topic is a help topic, but i have a very bad issue with my car.

It's a 2003 Jaguar S type with the 5 manual gearbox and i have a gearbox problem : i can't engaged the second gear. I think my 2nd synchro (or synch ?) is broken.
I try to find gearbox detail parts or this part, but i found nothing on the Internet.

The only i found is my gearbox number and the Jaguar reference which is :

GETRAG 221.0.0253.91
4610.1./01
226

Jaguar reference : XR819022

I have read that the automatic gearbox has been made by ZF but what about the manual gearbox ? Is it ZF too ?

Do you have any idea where i can find the part ?
A new gearbox from Jaguar cost 4000€

Thank you for your help and i apologize for my english and this first help topic

Regards

Stephane

From google, Getrag appears to be a firm (aka company), probably German.

There may be someone on Jaguar Forum.co.uk • Index page who can help, but the manual gearbox wasn't often chosen and was only available for a short period.

You might get one whole from a scrap (aka breaker aka wrecker) yard. There are online sites where you can request parts.

Good luck!

Getrag is a very well know manufacturer of gearboxes. BMW, Maserati and many others use them.

If it is confirmed that it is a Getrag.

Find that out first.

Then find out the model number that's on your car.

Then see via google if that model is very similar to any other models on any other cars.

With that information you may be able to find the correct parts more easily.

You also may be able to find a shop that can work on it even thought they don't work on Jaguars. A transmission repair shop.
