My Car locks me in
for some time now my car has on occasion not responded to the door latch and i have had to use the remote key fob to get out of the car.
this seems to becoming more often than not, so i am thinking either the battery for the car has a weak cell or there is a problem with the latch mechanism.
has anyone here got any thoughts before i take the car in on wednesday to get the issue looked at.

Use a different door latch. Same behaviour: it's the battery. Different: it's the one that's now causing trouble.
On my car unlock also works with a button at the bottom of the central dash. Try that, then same logic as above.

well the news from the dealer is that the battery is fine, but until they can get the door latch to fail they cant replace it (under warranty) which i suppose is fair enough.
i guess as long as i can always get the door to lock when i want that is the main thing.
i will have to closely monitor the situation and check all the door latches the next time it fails - as JagV8 suggests.
then while i am still locked in i will drive round to the dealer and phone them from my car so they can check the latches. lol!

Had my car serviced yesterday and reminded the dealer that i had intermittent issues with the door latch - which seemed worse during the hot weather and they have replaced the door latch under warranty so i'm hoping no more issues in that regard - i notice the internal door latch they have replaced has a sharper edge on it than the original so i at least know they have replaced it. i am wondering if i should use some fine sand paper or an emery board and lightly sand the edge or just leave it alone. i guess i will wait a while and see how annoying it becomes first.
