My car radio starts fullvolume then fades away to very low sound

MY CAR RADIO STARTS AT FULL VOLUME THEN RAPIDLY FADES AWAY TO A VERY LOW SOUND AND WILL NOT BE REGULATED IN ANY WAY. Can I fix this?

Just possibly there's some setting in the system setup that might matter - have a play.

My volume is jumpy too, I'm thinking the interface from the knob to the radio which I suspect is a analog to digital interface, is getting worn from a mechanical perspective.
