My kitty crapped outside of the cat box today

So I start it up this morning running a bit late and noticed that the starter sounded a bit slow.
Hmmmm?

I get under way and it's shifting a bit strange.

Double hmmmm?

Then I needed a tank of gas so I stopped but the local station couldn't get the tank filled up so I decided to cut out early and started it once again. It started even slower. Then the red light came on and it said CATS system failure.

That's when I knew the damn car had missed the cat box ...

I suspected water in the trunk or a low battery. I decided to go straight home and check. No water so I left for my appointment in another vehicle.

I get home tonight and check the battery and it's @ 12V exactly. I started it up and I see 14V so the alternator appears to be good.

The battery is about 1 year old so I'll give a long slow charge tonight and see if this issue just goes away.

I don't believe in that sort of solution so something must be causing the battery to draw down or I just got a bad one.

Hmmmmm.

In the round of tests don't forget to look and see if the ignition switch is keeping your kitty up at night... You know, if they don't get sound sleep they start acting tired during the day.... LOL...

JagV8 09-27-2011 05:52 PM

In case it's a battery whose water can be topped up, worth checking it's OK. (You probably already checked, though, and besides it shouldn't be low.)

Bob, did you happen to be parked, engine off - ignition- on listening to Bach or whatever floats your boat...lately?

Staatsof 09-28-2011 03:34 AM

Nothing, it was perfect the previous day for a pair of 4 mile trips.
The last long drive was last Thursday when my wife put 90 miles on it mostly highway mileage.

Today I will leave the slow charger on it and see if this repeats.

Most peculiar.

If it repeats, I suppose next thing is to confirm by checking current draw from battery after 45 mins (when the modules should have gone to sleep). I think you MAY have to gimmick the trunk switch so car thinks it's shut, though I actually doubt this is needed.

He could fold seat down, leave a back window and run the cable through? If he has long enough leads that is... never mind, that's a pretty long way.

Sry I'm of no help. Good luck though hope you get it nailed.

LOL! Have yas noticed how what we post instigates the advertising of products using our "Key Word"? Bob, describes how his kitty crapped out, take a look at the kitty litter products advertised above and below our posts. Back to the issue...all battery terminals tight Bob? Wonder if your one year old battery has a faulty cell(s)?

Staatsof 09-28-2011 08:40 AM

I'm not seeing kitty litter but I have noticed that anything I've googled for a price check or searched for on Ebay haunts me for days ... weeks even on the periphery of every web page.

I'm so sick of the vibrator and inflatable female doll ads!

Just an honest mistake gents ...

Nah, I'm pretty sure the kitty goes to sleep if the trunk is open or not... Many times have I started to unload the trunk only to have one of the litter cause drama... And the trunk stays open all night. The next day all lights are out and the battery is fine..And yes, it sat in a locked garage.

It's awkward to fold down the rear seat on an STR as they're not really intended to do that (for stiffening the car). Can be done (see existing threads).

I was hoping it wouldn't mind. Thanks for confirming it.

Sleep

If the interior lights remain on without my key in her, my pussy eventually goes to sleep...to save her battery that is.... Its an awesome feauture. I'd rather her sleep. Remember cars the day after when the lights were left on? Jeez, weren't they a bitch?

The Chris X 09-28-2011 03:33 PM

Seth are you a Fruedian psychologist by trade perhaps? LOL...

bfsgross 09-28-2011 05:02 PM

Whah?

Huh? Chris, what part(s) of my post led you to believe I made a "Freudian Slip"? :icon_couchhide:

The Chris X 09-29-2011 06:43 AM

^ lol - no comment.

Norri 09-29-2011 08:36 AM

Probably wise!

SchultzLD 09-29-2011 10:16 AM

wow this thread took a turn... mwahahaha

Staatsof 09-29-2011 02:25 PM

I'd say ... The segway from crap outside a of a cat box to sexual innuendo is disturbing isn't it...

An Update: Since I had to disconnect the battery for a charge the car is relearning and that's had a very beneficial effect. Loads of local and severely restricted driving had made kitty a very dull girl.

But now she's hot to trot once again! Yippie ... :icon_bike:

bfsgross 09-29-2011 06:09 PM

Keep it clean

Yeah Chris, try to keep "it" clean...gosh. Some dudes can ruin it for all.

Bob, you see what a long hard re-set can do for clearing the dull driving out so one can allow lead foot driving teach her an attitude?
