so this is my 1964 jaguar S, just want to see who else has an old gal like mine they restored.

and the first thing on my list of things to do is to free up the old throttle and clutch lines so i can have it moving under its own power again. anyone know of a way to free up cables? they move but dont return under their own power ( ie they are just really stiff)

Did you get that car from Pittsburg that looks exactly like one some of us guys that went to the meet up there saw sitting at a shop as we drove by?

Nice to see an original S type here and a fellow Canadian of course. My mother's family is originally from Woodstock and I still have distant cousins not far from Lepreau.

To free up your cables, assuming that they're not past the point of no return, some motorcycle shops have a cable lube adapter that flushes out the old cr*p and replaces it with proper lubricant.

Sure looks rusty enough to be a Pittsburgh car. :icon_doh: Hopefully that is just surface rust from the paint disintegrating. Looks solid & straight otherwise.

Good luck with it. I for one would love to see the progress unfold. That will make my recent project look like childs play.

Those boys back in the day at Jaguar really knew how to draw a line; just a gorgeous flowing shape.

Perhaps I misunderstood...but the clutch is hydraulic - no cables to free up there. If the clutch pedal is frozen, it may mean that the master and/or slave cylinders are corroded into immobility. Also, care may be required in jacking up the rear - if the rear underside is significantly rusted, the IRS may separate from the car unexpectedly. Not good for any human body parts underneath that.

I like that body styling , this car needs very mammoth job to get it back to its pristine condition

Unfortunately these are not really worth the cost of restoration. But if it is something you enjoy doing, I suppose there is some value there.

I seriously doubt you could do one for the BIN of this one.

wow, i agree. i highly doubt you could get the bodywork done for that. let alone the engine,tranny,wiring,interior, etc etc

Wow is that ebay car a beauty. If I hadn't already told myself an E Type was next I'd be on a plane to Cali - that is a good deal just at face value anyway.

Congrat's on your find "silver" - looks like you have a lot of work on your hands and its going to be a labor of love no doubt. Hope you start a build thread!

ya i will start a build thread, and the build for me will be pretty cheep due to me being able to do all my own welding and making bodywork on an English press. my plan is to just slowly build it over the next 5 years or so. i have no intention of making a profit or ever selling it, the car is purely for keeping me busy to protect my sanity and for preserving the beauty of early cars. i know its going to cost more than its worth but eh whats the point in living if you dont take the time to do things that make you happy

sorry i was just meaning i could put the pedal to the floor and it wouldn't come back up on its own, so the line probably just cracked and bled out no big deal.
