Newbie questions
Good morning peeps.
As a prospective new owner I have a couple of questions that have probably been asked before. Any common problems to look for in them?? I'm looking at two just now 55 and 57 plates. Can the sat nav be updated? Obviously they will be over 10 years out of date if they can't be. Sure I'll think of more as I go along. Thank Phil |

Without a comprehensive SH I would not buy an STR.
The ZF gearbox despite the "sealed for life" claim, they need a gearbox service at 70k miles and at 70k thereafter. A gearbox service isn't cheap at a workshop even the independent Jaguar specialists. Parts: Jaguar recommended spec of ATF at least 7 litres/ new sump pan, new sump pan bolts and new electrical cable sleeve. The DCCV valve is a favourite to fail and cause even greater damage. The electronic controlled switchable valve manages the heating and climate control. There are other issues relevant to the STR which other STR owners will explain. I would recommend finding an independent Jaguar specialist and avoid main dealers unless you're very wealthy. Great cars though ! Superb comfort and refinement and the STR has 400bhp. The stance says it all. |
