Never seen it, but I think it would mean things like fuel trims won't be kept once learned and maybe monitors won't stay set as they should. Maybe will just run OL (open loop)?
Sorry I forgot, no it's not a typo, P0603 = error in keep alive memory

Yes the manual says it could be a weak battery a bad or dirty power or ground connection or bad ECM. That's why I was wondering if it's due to me not programming the ECM correctly. But I'm going to reset & check all connections before I go switching ECM back again

I am fairly sure it can't be bad programming.

A bent pin in a connector or disturbed wire, more likely. Look for pinpoint tests.
