OIL STOP LEAK, A good or bad idea?
With the cost/time of removing an oil pan and/or valve covers, I don't see a lot of down side to the chemical stop leaks. In my experience, they work about half the time. In addition to the various brands of stop leak, a number of oil manufacturers are advertising that their "high mileage" oils have stop leak in the formula.

Don't do it, an engine block oil stop leak seal!
As these cars age, the plastic, rubber, seals, are unstable, they will break down and cause oil leaks.
Alot of the damage to seals and gaskets could of gone bad, because of bad oil change services.
Too much oil, shorted oil, and wrong type of oil.
The valve cover gasket, and spark plug boss seals isn't that bad for a doit yourself, you can do the L-bank in four hours, drive for a few weeks, and than do the R-bank.
If you are going todo a reseal ,consider new secondary cam chain tensioners, see
