P1647 - am I OK to give the car a high rev short run to try to clear?

Service Manager and others "left the company"!
It was the Service Manager who dealt with me - and said the pipe was a Jag requirement.
I wrote to complain (many other issues - see below) - and ask for pipe price refund - no reply after 5 weeks
Wrote to Area Jag Dealer boss - no reply!
Wrote to boss of Jag France - reply after 3 weeks from Client Services - "bring your car in for a check"!
I found that the Service Manager and others "left the company just after my problems!
For only some of the issues - see -
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...tchoff-189466/
See this video taken 2 hours after I got the car back from them affter a check for noise from the front of the car -
All is not well with Jaguar down here - I have had Jags continuously since my E-Type in 1970
But no more!

They are correct in replacing the water outlet with the thermostat, which also includes the water temperature sensor on a normally aspirated 4.2 litre unit. Since you have the supercharged engine, 1800€ is a bit steep for replacing the thermostat as the water outlet is made of metal on the supercharged engines and doesn't need to be replaced.
Perhaps you should speak with the Service Manager?

As I mentioned, they can be in rather tight (semi-welded due to the heat I suppose). I got mine out by cutting the plug off so I could get a 6-point socket snugly on and then applied (not much) torque via a jack then walked away for a while. A lot of things come undone if you do this.
(Once slightly loose, tighten and loosen a few times and gradually they come out.)
Sorry to hear of your experiences with jag dealer(s). However, to change these things you can go to anyone at all who's competent mechanically.

Location upstream sensor?
Is Upstream Bank 2/1 on right or left of the car as you look from the front?
And is it the one nearest the front of the car or the rear one exhaust side? (I think the latter)
(have looked at Jag Manual, and difficult to tell.

Jag Manual Pages 1969-1970, 1984-5, 2054, for O2 Lambda Sensor
I thought it may help if I gave the pages in the 396-page Jag Service Manual (difficult to navigate) regarding the O2 Lambda sensor, testing, replacement etc.
These are 1969-1970, 1984-5, 2054
P.S. It took 90 mins as above, but this was due to my having to check and recheck sensor location, and initially installing on wrong side!
So twice I had to take it for a spin and for a few engine cycles.
Interesting to note was that the electrical connector on the sensor was made in such a way that it would only fit the rear sensor connection, so removing any error in installation!
Next time, knowing what I know now, I reckon one hour max for the job including hacking up and removing the under-engine wind deflector
