primairy chains on an early 4.0

Hi all,

I want to order new chains and tensioners but I cannot read the engine number. Chassisnumner is SAJAA01F5XGL07008.
Do I need the 104 (pn EAZ1269, roller chain) or the 106 link chains (pn AJ82289, HV chain). I get mixed info from the net.

Hope you guys can help.

thanks!

Best method is to remove one of the cam covers and have a look. If memory serves, the early AJ28 engines had the roller style primary timing chains.

Hi,

I believe my supplier listed wrong information, they state that from engine numbers starting with 98xxxxxx should have the High Velocity type. But all other list the 01xxxxxx. Problem is that I do not have time to check first, order parts and replace later, in 2 weeks i need to take my car for a long journey sound. I ordered the roller version. I think you can see the chains through the oil filler opening.
