I have a 01 S Type.

Sometime ago my rear view mirror broke off due to something. Don't ask! lol

I am in need of a new one.

I am looking on ebay & see one but it has an extra little box thingy and mine doesnt. I'm assuming thats the rain detector?? (correct me if I am wrong)

Can I still use this on my car?

In the auction the seller states it came from a 2002 S Type.

The "boxy" thing you are referring to is for the compass. The compass uses that as a magnetic field. That box also has two tiny holes that you can use to recalibrate the direction it is displaying. Other than that I believe that is all it does.

Look at the electrical connections. The big question is does it plug in properly?
