Hi Andrew,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums. It's great to have you with us.

I have moved your posts from the forum for the X100 to the forum for the X200, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your S-Type. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.

It would help us if you could provide more information. Here are a few questions off the top of my head:

1. Does the starter motor turn the engine over?

2. If the engine will turn over, can the mechanic see the engine speed on his scan tool, indicating the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) is providing an engine speed signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM)?

3. If the engine will turn over, how low does the battery voltage sag while cranking? If the voltage sags much below 11 volts the ECM will not trigger the ignition to fire.

4. Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored, and if so, can you please post all of them here exactly as they appear?

5. If the no-start condition came on suddenly, had you recently added petrol/gasoline to the tank? Could it be possible that you have water in the tank?

6. It might help us to know the circumstances leading up to the no-start. Was it sudden or have you had prior starting difficulties?

7. I don't recall any of our members ever reporting bore wash on a 3.0L, but has your mechanic checked the compression on at least one cylinder per bank just to rule out low compression as a contributing factor?

8. To start, the engine needs fuel, spark, air, timing and compression. Has the mechanic confirmed all of those are present and plausible before condemning the ECM?

When you get a chance, please post an introduction at the New Member Area - Intro a MUST so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don

Hi Andrew
If you have changd the fuel pump. It may be the fuel pump fuse (in boot) has blown. This can happen when the fuel pump is failing. So even when you put in a new pump. You need to check the fuse.

This happened to me and it was frustrating knowing the pump was good and not starting. So it is a good place to start and cheap to fix if it is the problem.
